Well, the trip is now underway – all of the bags are packed.
Interestingly, I’m heading over with an entirely full bag… A few requests for European friends, and about 30 pounds of ziploc bags, empty boxes, packaging tape, empty body-bag size duffel bags, and foam popcorn peanuts.
Still in wonderful Illinois – having a good first weekend in Peoria. At the request of fellow OG writer, Chris Wray, our farewell breakfast is a hearty Steak and Shake affair. Next up for me, stroopwafel and chocolate croissant in Schipol.
Anyways, before we leave, some stuff to look forward to.
- We should have mostly daily posts from the fair. About a dozen of us will be there, and a few have plans already for regular posting. I’ll be here with some pics and breaking news. Chris Wray plans daily recaps like usual. Melissa is compare this trip with her last one from 2005* (OK, maybe an exaggeration – but it’s been awhile!)
- We’re trying something new – We have just started a Twitter account and we are hoping to post pictures on the fly there – assuming the German internet gods allow. Follow us at @opinionatedgmrs
- By popular demand, food photos will continue. If there is enough groundswell, we may spin off the OpinionatedEaters.
Lovely Peoria, Illinois in the background.
Yeah. I know. Gotta up my selfie stick game
Until your next appointment (in Europe!)
The Gaming Doctor
I look forward to your updates! I’m one of the ones who enjoy the food pics, but I think I get the most out of quick hits on the games you’re finding are popular. It’s one thing for you to mention a game you liked (which is great), but if you notice a particular game is creating a significant amount of buzz that you did not anticipate – I go crazy over that! Have a great trip!
We passed through Essen again today. Should manage to get it right and get off at Essen by Tuesday
Looking forward to catching up with you guys.
Looking forward to your annual coverage!
Peoria??!! My backyard. And, technically, you enjoyed your breakfast in East Peoria.
Safe travels,
Kevin
Correct. But both meals on the water. Really enjoyed Blue Duck barbecue last night. Peoria is a wonderful city and the airport is awesome. No charge for parking. Took me longer to take my shoes off than the rest of the security line.
Cheers for Blue Duck; great place. Glad that you enjoyed your time in Peoria. Did you have time to stop at Just for Fun, a fantastic local game store?
I didn’t have time. I pretty much spent my whole trip at Bradley. Chris Wray went though. He was impressed with the local stores
I stopped at Just for Fun and had a great time there. Amazing selection! I actually bought a GIPF Series Potential Set 1, a hard-to-find item!
Alright, I’ve been set up to receive notifications whenever you tweet something, make it good!! :P
Safe travels!!
