We are taking time playing Small World 2 on tablet and preparing Caterina’s German oral test at the airport but it was not an easy task being able to get here.
We survived, in ascending order of difficulty/dangeourness a real German breakfast, the trains’ strike, 40 kms on a taxi and finally Burger King. What I mostly feel the after effects is burger king for sure. After 4 days I really miss my wife, my son Francesco and Italian food.
But it’s a sunny day and we are full of emotions and memories and we have games in the luggage and on a camper driving to Modena.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
Germans are great. They excels almost in everything they are doing so, organizing a strike, they try to do their best to mess up travelers’ life. So, this morning, when I checked the db.de looking for a safe way to reach Koln airport and I realized it was possible to get there using 4 different trains. Thanks to a great Ticket to Ride experience and since we are skilled gamers we decided to try it and ride and S-train going somewhere in the nowhere.
The gamer using the strikers discover our plans and changed his strategy and as soon as we get there he decided to cancel our train. Lost in the nowhere we could capitulate but me and Caterina are not so easy to beat and we have some resources (money) left and put to use our plan B. We took the first Taxi on the nowhere (probably the only one) and ask for Koln Airport. It was expansive but we reached the airport in time and won the game! Great!
So now we are waiting the fly sharing our impressions (and studying German’s irregular verbs). We are deciding our top 5 but since we feel like stars we will just announce it tomorrow; obviously here, on Opinionatedgamers.com. Stay connected.
Good play
Liga & Caterina
With the train strike, I’m almost happy I didn’t go this year! Thanks for helping me feel as though I were there (without having to play the real-life train game!)
Correction: “was there”–still only one of me:-)
