50 ish games over 5 days.Â
Admittedly a lot of lighter stuff, but when you look at the games that are new, most of them are lighter. Istanbul and Helios were among the heaviest games here from the nuremberg crop.
A number of new prototypes have moved on to my highly anticipated list: Time Stories is clearly at the top. Other games that I await are: Pandemic: the cure, Spike (or whatever better name it gets), and a few others that I will talk about as soon as I can.Â
I am sad to have missed the CGE deduction prototype, but I just never had a 3 hour window free when the game was free. I also never got to play the prototype brought by Hans im gluck (Andreas steding) nor the days of wonder game (I was just never free when Bruno Cathala was also free)
I also spent a good deal of time explaining or playing the new Carrera games that I co-designed as well as teaching the two Bezier games that I am helping develop (Subdivision and Castles of Mad King Ludwig)Â Â I actually never ended up playing either Bezier game this week because each time I started to teach it, the tables filled up with players.Â
A few games are now on my possibly to be acquired list, assuming they are available from amazon.de or if gamesurplus.com imports them in – but I still have a decent number of unplayed games in the basement so I’m not sure how hard I will try to find copies right now. I may wait and see if the domestic retailers bring them over first.
Foodwise, the best thing all week is a tie between the Banana frozen custard at Hibbard’s and the smoked turkey from the bbq place (both in Lewiston). Close behind would be the gouda poutine.
It’s time to catch up with work now, but hopefully I will have some longer, more detailed reviews in the next week or two.Â
Also, probably once they get home, the other Opinionated Gamers that attended the Gathering will post their thoughts as well.Â
Until your next appointment,
The Gaming Doctor
