Five & Dime 2011: Joining the “In” Crowd

These are games that have appeared on the Five & Dime lists before… and have risen in overall playing percentages.

7 Wonders
46.77%
The Resistance 13.69%
Eminent Domain
9.90%
The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game
9.57%
Troyes 7.74%
Survive: Escape from Atlantis 6.86%
Navegador 5.65%
Haggis 5.50%
Puzzle Strike 5.41%
Yomi 5.41%
Alien Frontiers 5.35%
Hanabi & Ikebana
5.27%
Innovation 5.23%
Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer
5.12%
London 4.69%

Just off the edge of the list at 4.25% – Can’t Stop.

There are two main reasons that games appear on this list:

  1. They were reprinted and/or had another game/expansion added to their franchise this year (7 Wonders, Survive: Escape From Atlantis, Innovation, Alien Frontiers, Can’t Stop, Ascension).
  2. They were “Essen”/end of the year games… they were released late in 2009 and were only played 5+ times by a couple of folks in 2010 (Eminent Domain, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, Troyes, Navegador, Haggis, Puzzle Strike, Yomi, London, Hanabi).

A couple of thoughts:

  • Interesting to me how little Internet play affected this list.
  • Did The Resistance get a fresh printing – or did it just come out late last year?

1 Response to Five & Dime 2011: Joining the “In” Crowd

  1. Travis W. says:

The Resistance was a Essen 2010 release – though it is listed in BGG as 2009 that reflects it’s release as a PnP.

As one of the first titles of my small publishing company it took a little while to build a following, and get stores to carry the game and people to notice it. hat said we also had a hard time with keeping the game in stock and ordering enough copies to last. I think because it is a werewolf type game that some initial skepticism among BGG crowd for this type of game scerd some people from trying – but the game play is something that all types of gamers can enjoy both very logical thinkers and the purely social.

This year we are getting broader sales coverage, and The Resistance will be carried in Barnes and Noble starting in late June. So I hope that it will become a fixture on your list for years to come.
