2017 Meeples Choice Award Winners

The voting for the Meeples Choice Awards has ended and the following three games were chosen by the Spielfrieks user group:

AZUL
HEAVEN & ALE
GAIA PROJECT

The first two games were designed (or co-designed) by Michael Kiesling, making him only the second designer to have two MCA awards in one year (Reiner Knizia is the only other one, having accomplished it in both 1998 and 1999).  Remarkably, it’s Kiesling’s first MCA awards; the same is true of his Heaven & Ale co-designer, Andreas Schmidt. It’s the second award for Gaia Project’s designers, Jens Drogemuller and Helge Ostertag, as they both won earlier for Terra Mystica.  Speaking of Knizia, he barely missed earning his 11th Meeples Choice Award for The Quest for El Dorado–it fell just one vote short.

Here are the vote totals for all the nominated games.  The first figure is the votes received during the final round, while the second figure (in parentheses) is the vote total during the preliminary round, which determined the nominations.  Congratulations to all the winning games!
